カフェマガジンに登場！

ヴォーンさんは毎日三杯はコーヒーを飲むコーヒー好き。
東京のカフェに感動した彼は素敵なカフェを探索し、
まるで俳句のような言葉で
カフェやコーヒーショップを紹介してくれる
とてもユニークなブログ。
又、記事の写真もフォトグラファーとコラボしているだけあって、
どれも画になる素敵なものばかり。

記念すべき一回目は表参道にある古民家風のお店です！！
　

blog 1: Omotesando Koffee

はじめに//

僕にとって記憶とは、
大切にしていても、すぐに色あせてしまうものだ。
ただ、ここで過ごす時間は、例外だといえる。
店を訪れると、バリスタの國友さんが迎えてくれる。
彼はバリスタというよりも芸術家にちかい、
と僕は思っている。
ビル・グレンジャーは、ある記事で、
ここでだされたコーヒーが世界で一番だと評した。
「世界で一番のコーヒー」と。
この店を高く評価するタイラー・ブリュレも、
あのモノクル・カフェの
コーヒー・プロデューサーに國友さんを抜擢した。
國友さんは、次に紹介する予定のカフェの責任者でもある。
ということで、こういったことをふまえて読んでみてほしい。

僕は方向感覚には結構自信がある方だ。
だけど、表参道コーヒーへ行こうとすると、
必ず道に迷ってしまう。
表参道ヒルズの裏手を入っていくと、
民家が立ち並ぶ通りの一角に店はある。
僕はGPSを使わずに、
右へ左へ、だいたいの方向へと進む。
そして、地元の人に道を尋ねる。
犬の散歩をしていたり、ベランダに出ていたりする人に。
彼らはいつも、正しい方向を教えてくれる。
きっと、表参道で迷子になるこの感覚や、
人ごみから離れていく感覚、
それもまた、この店の魅力なのだ。

そこは、日本風の古民家である。
……もう一度言うから想像してほしい。
日本風の古い民家が一軒。
その一角が改装され、
シンプルで洗練されたキューブ型のカウンターが設置されている。
テーブルもイスもない。
だけど、こじんまりとした美しい庭があり、
手入れされた盆栽がならぶ。
その庭にベンチが置かれていて、
そこでは、親密な会話が生まれる。
僕は、そのベンチで
男性が女性にプロポーズしている光景を目にしたことがある。
もし、もう一度、妻にプロポーズすることがあったら、
僕もこの場所を選んだかもしれない。

そこはほんとうにシンプルな場所だ。
レジもない。
スタンプカードもない。
まったくのミニマリズムだと思ってほしい。
ただそこには、國友さんか、三木さんがいて、
一台のエスプレッソ・マシンが置いてある。

日本の古民家に、
インゴ・マウラーの照明。
ここへ来るといつも、
何もかもが完璧だ、という気持ちが
ふと、わいてくる。

さいごに//

ここは、東京のなかにある、
隠れ家のような愛しい場所だ。
僕は心のどこかで、
過大に評価しているのかもしれない、と思ったりもする。
だけど、友人を連れて行くたびに、
やっぱりそうじゃないと再確認することになる。
店に着くと彼らの目は輝きだす。
それを見れば、すぐにわかるのだ。

全体を通して、
シンプルなのに人との触れ合いを想像させる、
優しい文章だと感じました。きっと、人や景色、
日常の色々なものを暖かい目でみる
彼の人柄が表れているのだと思います。
そして、そこに漂うコーヒーのかおり。
きっと皆さんも、國友さんのコーヒーを飲みたい、
と思われたことでしょう。

私事ですが、近く東京へ行く際には、
迷子になりながら、
美味しいコーヒーを飲みに行こうと思っています。

Vaughan’s TOKYO COFFEE BLOG

Vaughan is a fashion model from Melbourne who is based in Tokyo. Everyday he drinks 3 coffees.
He recently started a coffee blog. It seems he has been impressed with the cafes in Tokyo.
Vaughan is attempting to discover and introduce beautiful cafes, and he writes a semi-haiku type of blog about them. It’s very unique and special. So far he is featured Omotesando Koffee & Cafe Kitsune.
He also collaborates with photographers each time to capture the cafe.

first thought//

for me, memories, even the precious memories, fade too quickly
being here…. is the exception to the above
Kunitomo-San, most probably your barista when you visit
is for me, more of an artist, than a barista
Bill Granger is on the record stating that the coffee served up here is the best in the world
“the best in the world”
and Tyler Brûlé who raves about this place is now using Kunitomo-San as his coffee producer in the renowned monocle cafe
Kunitomo-San is also responsible for the cafe i will blog about next
so, put all of that together for a moment..

i’m not so bad with directions
but each time i visit Omotesando Koffee…
i get lost
you see, it’s on a residential street
kind of behind omotesando hills
i don’t use my gps
i zigzag the blocks, heading in the general direction
and ask a local who’s walking their dogs
and someone on their balcony
and they always point me in the right direction
maybe the feeling of getting lost in omotesando..
maybe the feeling of getting away from everyone else..
is another part of the charm

it’s a Japanese house
i’ll repeat that and let that sink in
it’s a Japanese house…
converted into a simple stylish pop up style coffee cube
there are no seats or tables
and there is a beautiful Japanese garden
boasting bonsais
there’s some benches there outside
where intimate chats happen
i once saw a man propose to a woman there
if i had my time again
i’d propose to my wife there

it’s so simple there
i couldn’t see the cash register
no stamp card system
think bare minimalistic
just the Japanese man
either Kunitomo-San
or Miki-San
and just the espresso machine
in a Japanese house
and a light….

final thought//
this is lovely secret that tokyo hugs to herself

i thought i’d exaggerated it in my mind,
but the friends i take, reconfirm all of this,
i can tell by the sparkling eyes when we arrive
