Williamsburg, Brooklyn New York; the center of underground fashion, art and music. There are many young hipsters who have moved from Manhattan in recent years, mix with the native Hispanic, European and Orthodox Jewish populations. Life in Williamsburg completely revolves around Bedford Avenue, is the main street lined with all the popular restaurants, shops, bars and cafes.<\/p>\n

There is a small cafe bar called “SuperCore” on Bedford Avenue. I’m a Japanese girl who works there who has been living in NY for about 7 years after moving from Tokyo Japan. I’m going to share interesting stories and my thoughts around the cafe and the people who gather around. I will also give my thoughts on with what’s going on in Brooklyn NY right now through my eyes and everyday living.

The theme for the very 1st entry is a brief introduction of myself for you guys to get some basic background information about me. <\/p>\n

As a matter of fact, it’s not like I carefully planned about moving here. I’ve never even imagined myself living in NY until about 2 months before I moved to the States. It was more like… as they say “going with the flow” or a “gut feeling” kind of a decision. At the time, I was a 29 years old office worker in Minato-ku Tokyo in import\/export business. 29 is the age that makes most Japanese bachelor girls to feel on edge. I was kind of feeling on edge too just like many other girls. Around this time, I took a trip to NY with my friend and I met someone here unexpectedly. Of course there were so many things happened that are too much to write here, but long story short, I decided moving here thinking “It’s my destiny! God’s guiding me! (even though I’m not a christian) Let’s just do it!”. As soon as I got back to Tokyo, I packed minimal belongings in 2 huge suitcases, quit my jobs, canceled my apt and got back on the plane after 2 months. <\/p>\n

I lived in a couple of apartments on the Lower East Side Manhattan for the first 3 years. From then until now I live in this cozy cute apt on top of a jazz club in Williamsburg Brooklyn right next to the Williamsburg bridge with my old dog I brought from Japan “Luke Skywalker” and my lovely BF James who is 8 years younger than me. <\/p>\n

MASAKO<\/p>\n

Aside from my cafe work, I’ve been working at a French owned Vintage boutique as a manager. I’ve been working there for about 6 years now. The friendship between the owner CC and I is beyond your average employee and employer relationship\u2014we\u2019re like sisters from different mothers at this point. We sometimes get featured in magazines and TV programs in Japan. Also because CC’s husband is a legendary graffiti artist “FUTURA2000”, our boutique is known as a secret shopping spot in BK among some Japanese fashion girls.<\/p>\n

I’m always running around here and there, I keep busy doing this and that. I think I might have some interesting stories to tell you guys in here… I hope you enjoy my little stories!<\/p>\n
